SMM, February 14: According to market feedback, the weekly production of sample silicon plants in Xinjiang was 29,805 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 62%. This week, the operating conditions of sample silicon plants in Xinjiang remained stable, and the increase in production was driven by the ramp-up of production from previously resumed submerged arc furnaces, with no actual changes in the number of furnaces in operation.

The weekly production of sample silicon enterprises in north-west China was 11,130 mt, with a weekly operating rate stable at 82%. The statistical scope for north-west China includes Qinghai, Ningxia, and Gansu. During the week, operating conditions in north-west China remained stable, and silicon plants that had previously implemented production cuts had no plans for resumption.

The weekly production of sample silicon enterprises in Yunnan was 2,430 mt, with a weekly operating rate stable at 29%. During the week, operating conditions in Yunnan remained stable. Local operating silicon plants were reluctant to lower prices for signing orders, resulting in relatively average new order transactions and a slight increase in inventory. However, due to the limited number of operating silicon plants in the region, the actual impact of the increased inventory on price changes was minimal.

The weekly production of sample silicon enterprises in Sichuan was 0 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 0%. Currently, sample silicon enterprises in Sichuan remain non-operational, while only a few submerged arc furnaces outside the sample maintain production. The local operating level remains extremely low.

Before the holiday, the black chain is unlikely to see a trend-driven market [SMM Steel Industry Chain Weekly Report].
This week, ferrous metals were in the doldrums, with coking coal and coke staging a mid-week rise. At the beginning of the week, financial markets experienced sharp fluctuations, dragging down sentiment in the ferrous chain and leading to a pullback in futures. Mid-week, Indonesia's cut to coke production quotas drove coking coal and coke futures to lead the gains, though the impact was more pronounced on thermal coal, while coking coal's rise was largely sentiment-driven and short-lived. In the latter part of the week, finished products continued their seasonal inventory buildup, and support from the raw material side weakened, causing the entire ferrous chain to pull back. In the spot market, with the Chinese New Year holiday approaching, purchasing activity slowed down further, with end-users only making limited, as-needed purchases at low prices.
